There are three ways to sell a car in Estonia: yourself through an ad, as a trade-in at a dealership, or to a car buyer. Selling yourself usually gets a higher price but takes more time. A car buyer is the fastest option: valuation on site, the contract and ownership change in the e-service, and money the same day.

Three ways to sell a car
Selling it yourself
The highest price, but the sale can take weeks. You need to take photos, answer calls, show the car and check that the buyer’s money has really arrived.
Trade-in at a dealership
Works if you’re buying a new car right away. The old car’s value is deducted from the new one’s price and is usually below market value.
Selling to a car buyer
The fastest way: the price is set on site and paid the same day. Also works for broken and damaged cars and cars without inspection.
What car buying is and who it suits
Car buying means that the buyer purchases the car from you directly in order to resell it, repair it or use it for parts. Because the buyer takes on the repairs, the resale and the risk, the price is below market value. In return, you don’t have to prepare the car for sale, manage an ad or meet strangers.
It suits you if you need money quickly, the car needs repairs or is on lease, or you simply don’t have time to sell it yourself. If the car is in good shape and you’re in no hurry, you’ll probably get more by selling it yourself. We say so honestly, right on the phone.

Estonia’s vehicle register is electronic, so you need fewer paper documents than many people think.
- A valid ID: ID card, passport or driving licence

Frequently asked questions
How much below market value does a car buyer pay?
It depends on the car. For a popular car in good condition the gap is smaller; for a car that needs repairs or a rare model it’s bigger, because we factor in repairs and the resale risk. We tell you the price before you sign anything, and you’re under no obligation to sell.
Do I need to wash or repair the car before selling?
No. We value the car as it is. A wash can improve the first impression, but repairs rarely pay off: they usually cost more than the price increase.
How does the ownership change work?
The ownership change is done in the Transport Administration e-service, where the seller and the buyer confirm the deal with an ID card, Mobile-ID or Smart-ID. We do it on site together with you and pay the state fee.
Can I turn down your offer?
Yes. The valuation is free and doesn’t oblige you to sell. If the price doesn’t suit you, you pay nothing.
Do you buy cars outside Tallinn?
Our main area is Tallinn and Harju County. Elsewhere in Estonia we buy by arrangement and agree on the time and price by phone.
